Urgent warning issued for Ozempic and weight loss drugs | 7NEWS

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued an urgent safety warning for GLP-1 weight loss and diabetes medications including Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro, linking them to a serious eye condition that can cause sudden and permanent vision loss. The regulator has received approximately 40 reports of the condition, often called eye stroke, which occurs when blood flow to the optic nerve is reduced. The TGA emphasises the risk remains very low and the medications continue to be effective for treating obesity and diabetes.
